Teacher's Biography:
Welcome to David’s Toronto drum lessons drum teacher profile. For 20 years, David Richards has helped the beginner, intermediate and pro musician, create practice steps for drum concepts so that they can become successful, working drummers/musicians.
Hailing from the Caribbean island of Trinidad & Tobago, David has travelled around the world playing music alongside reputable artists from his home country and abroad, at various jazz and music festivals such as Barbados Jazz Festival, St. Lucia Jazz Festival, Ottawa Blues Fest. and many more.
David moved to Toronto, Canada to study under some of Canada’s best musicians at Humber College, where he received his Bachelor’s Degree in Music. Some of his noteworthy teachers included world-renowned drummers Larnell Lewis & Mark Kelso. His work at Humber and musical talent allowed him to earn many awards.
David is currently active in the music scene in Toronto, playing with some of the city’s best musicians and artists. He also works at some of the top music schools in the Greater Toronto Area and has recently launched a YouTube online teaching series – D Drum Corner.
Building on his YouTube series, David will also be launching a series of drum courses and e-books soon.

D’ Drum Corner is devoted to sharing some of the best tips and steps to designing a practical approach to developing the art of drumming, especially for those who don’t have the natural ability, like me!
This is the drumming hub for intermediate drummers and my approach is all about reducing concepts into bite-sized, step-by-step, practical directives on technique, vocabulary, independence/coordination, musicianship and musicality – all the major ingredients that make for a successful working drummer!
So what makes this drum studio different? Well, we’re going to take a look at ALL the key elements that make for a successful a drummer and break it down into the most basic units and find ways to practise those ideas by using ONE framework.
If you want to get ideas for developing an approach to organizing all the tools in your drumming arsenal in a fun, challenging and easy to follow way, then this is the drum studio for you.
