Welcome to the songo grooves drum lesson. This drum lesson breaks down the Cuban Songo pattern and looks at some seriously tricky four limb independence within it.
This drum rhythm type was created in Cuba in the 1970s and credited to the percussionist Changuito with the Los Van Van group.
It is syncopated and that creates its own challenges but in this drum lesson we will break it down slow and simple.
Once it is learnt we go to the next level and start adding some clave four limb independence elements.
So this is a challenging drum lesson but it is broken down for all skill levels. And these grooves are immense fun to play!
