A lot of drummers are very comfortable playing straight 8th note drum beats but they are not used to swinging their grooves. But so much of music is swung that we need to be comfortable in both feels. And swung music goes far beyond just jazz and blues.
Swung music is based on triplets but in the shuffle drum beat we miss the middle note in a triplet. So in this lesson we will start by checking out the shuffle drum beat and then we’ll break down some triplet based fills and put them in sequence with shuffle beats.
