Welcome to this drum lesson. Here we will learn how to play ahead and behind the beat.
As drummers we spend a lot of time learning how to play with a click and lock in tight. This is really, really important. But once you feel that you’ve mastered the click we can go a step further. And so I want to introduce these concepts to you in this drum lesson. Don’t worry if you haven’t yet mastered the click, it’s still good to learn about this and develop your timing skills with it.
It will actually allow you to go deeper and improve your playing with the metronome.
We are going to learn how we can create different feels by playing behind the click and ahead of the click. This is next level timing but it’s well worth working on it so that you have total mastery of the metronome.
This lesson will let you understand what this is, how to approach it and give you four practice tracks to help you develop your skills.
