Learn how to play funky paradiddle grooves on the drum kit
This Is The Paradiddle Grooves Drum Lesson
Welcome to the paradiddle grooves drum lesson. Here we will learn how to play funk paradiddle drum beats.
The humble paradiddle is one of the early rudiments that we learn and the sticking pattern is:
R L R R L R L L
Sometimes it gets left as that; just a strange little sticking pattern learnt on a drum pad or snare. What’s the point?
But the paradiddle is such a useful pattern that can spawn so many funky drum beats and fills.
So in this drum lesson we will help you realise the potential of the paradiddle, even if you’re a total beginner that has never played one before. We will start with the rudiment in it’s most basic form and then we will progress to learn some really interesting accent placements within it.
The next stage is to move them into a drum beat format and add bass drums. At this stage they start to sound really good.
But once you’re comfortable with those we then add some extra bass drums to increase the complexity and funkiness!
We work through it slowly so that everyone can understand this. By the end you will know some very cool paradiddle drum beats as well as understanding how to create your own variations.
