Here’s another FREE drumless backing track for you beautiful drummers. In case you missed it the first one can be previewed here. The idea here is that the different free tracks available to you from Total Drummer give you a chance to try different grooves and fills at different tempos and in different styles. Often we feel really comfortable at a certain speed or in a certain genre so it’s really important to force yourself to play within the parameters that don’t feel comfortable naturally. That’s the only way to improve, gain confidence and ultimately conquer those trickier feels.

Otherwise you’ll get into a position where you have to play them live or in the studio and you won’t perform to your full potential because you have shied away from it in the rehearsal room.

And it’s for that reason there are several backing tracks minus drums available for free so you can experiment, have fun and become awesome. The track here is a chillout funky thing at 80bpm. You could use 8th note hi-hats or, as I did in the sample video below, use 16th note hats. It’s pretty laid back but that can be a challenge initself. It takes discipline to sit back and make it feel good rather than try loads of fills and difficult bass drum figures.
