Nine Eight Drumless Playalong
Backing Track Minus Drums
This nine eight drumless playalong is at 122bpm. It’s a great chance to try out your beats and fills in the odd time signature of nine eight. It’s not the most common time signature but it is one that crops up with two examples being Sting’s ‘I hung my head’ and Dave Brubeck’s ‘Blue Rondo A La Turk’.
You can also learn some useful grooves and fills from the nine eight drum lesson that can be found on the single lessons page. Or otherwise dive straight in and have some nine eight fun!

Playing along with music is the next best thing to playing with live musicians. As well as developing timing and listening skills, you are also crafting your own personal voice which is a hugely important thing to be a great drummer. This track gives you the chance to really push yourself creatively and learn how to develop a drum part to make the song exciting. Try building the drum parts and coming back down where appropriate. Pay close attention in the fills and make sure you come back to the groove on beat one each time. By really crafting your drum part you will become an asset in any band.
