Learn how to use displacement with triplet based rhythms.
This Is The Rhythmic Displacement Swung Rhythms Lesson
Welcome to rhythmic displacement swung rhythms. Here we will learn how to use displacement within the triplet based rhythms. We previously looked at displacement using 8th notes and 16th notes so you might find those to be better starting points if you’re new to rhythmic displacement.
Simply put we are going to take triplet based rhythms and move their starting point in the bar. These sound crazy and it’s really hard to get your head around at first. However, we start very slowly and break it down so that a beginner can understand it.
Having this deeper understanding of rhythm, and the ability to phrase rhythms anywhere inside the bar, gives us much more creative freedom on the drum kit and allows us to express ourselves in more interesting ways.
